Beach Retreat part 2.

We had a wonderful time at this park even though the weather turned very wet last night.
As mentioned we went to the car museum at the Visitor Information Centre and it was really worth a look.
Many old cars that were collected by the same gentleman over the years and restored were donated to the museum and they are a work of art.

One of Rusty’s mods to the van was the new extendable antenna pole. It works a treat and is so easy to erect and dismount.
It travels on the back bumper and when we get where we are going its as simple as extending the pole horizontally to attach the antenna as Rusty is doing here and then pivoting it up into position.

The pole is rotatable so you can aim it and when finished just reverse the procedure and its all packed away for the next time.

Last night we had a very misty rain and it was strange to see a fishing trawler appearing out of the mist. All you could see was his light reflecting off the water and hear the engines idling as he rounded the navigation buoy.

All in all a lovely weekend.

Beach Retreat Wynyard.

Here we are at the BeachRetreat Caravan Park at Wynyard. It’s a beautiful small park right on the beach with the town boardwalk going right past us. There are only about 20 powered sites but it is a lovely quiet park and only $25 a night.

Right behind us is the beach access path which would be wonderful in summer. We’d never see Bethany from dawn til dusk I think. The amenities are older but beautifully decorated with fresh flowers every day, magazines and books to read and a nice comfy seat to sit on while you wait.

Last night we watched all the rabbits come out. They seem quite relaxed with humans and dogs around as this is a dog friendly park. Rusty got up early this morning and captured a beautiful sunrise just before the camera batteries went flat lol.

By the time I got up it was drizzling so we went into town, a whole 10 minute walk, and had a look round the antique car collection at the visitor centre before getting some lunch and heading back to the park. No cooking tonight as there is an amazing fish & chip shop at the park entrance. The servings are huge and the prices cheaper than I can buy food and cook it.

Home tomorrow.

Easter Sunday

Well we decided to go for a drive today rather than sit round eating chocolate lol.
We drove up to Lake Parangana up the back of Mole Creek so we could check out the free camping up there.
It was a lovely autumn day and the sun was out for most of the drive. Lake Parangana is owned by the Hydro and they have a great free camp area right on the shore. Lots of room and a boat ramp as well for those with a tinnie.

We took lunch with us so it was Rusty’s duty to make the coffee.

After that it was off to the Chudleigh Honey Farm to taste some of their yummy honey mixes. My favourite was the Lemon Tang, Chocolate Orange and Stringy Bark. Bethany tried every chocolate and caramel one in the shop as well as the wild strawberry and raspberry.
We had to buy a jar of the Stringy Bark honey for breakfast tomorrow morning.

BBQ Tassie style.

With eldest daughter and her hubby coming for dinner we decided to have a barbie. Of course the weather turned nasty. So not to be outdone Rusty rigged up an umbrella on a pole, just big enough to cover him & the barbie.
It wasn’t until the meat really got going that we noticed a small problem with the system.
It really needed a chimney. He looked like he was sending up smoke signals lol.

Still, the steak, fried mushrooms and char grilled capsicum was very yummy.

As soon as I get a chance I’ll put some photos up of the latest inventions for the van.

A lovely weekend

Well we are home again after a wonderful weekend. Saturday and Sunday afternoon saw us split up into groups for the trivia hosted by Colin & Wendy. The old brains were really thinking especially when they threw in ‘name this song and artist’ and played a small snippet of a song.  Most of us got the songs right but really struggled with the singer’s names lol.

Sunday morning looked like ‘My Kitchen Rules’ with many tables, frypans and pancake mixes along with numerous toppings for the great pancake breakfast.

The weather held out until last night when the rain and wind started. No one seemed to sleep well as it was very muggy  and some were just too full after a lovely meal at the Pier Hotel.

So this morning saw everyone looking like drowned rats as we dashed around packing up. Those that finished early stood under cover and watched the others continuing on. We can’t wait for the next one in June but there won’t be any complaints of humidity and heat then.

Here we all are minus Adrian & Steph who had to leave early.
